There are so many reasons to move away from fossil fuels and toward renewable energy. While most of us can't guarantee our electricity comes from renewables like solar, wind and geothermal energy, converting from gas to electric ranges is a first step.
Recent reports of the methane pollution in homes from gas ranges has focused on the contribution to asthma. But beyond asthma gas ranges pollute indoor air and not just in the kitchen.
It's time to get rid of gas ranges. The federal Inflation Reduction Act, really more of an energy conservation bill, offers federal tax credits for electrifying our homes and vehicles. Many states also offer incentives, including benefits for low income households that can't benefit from a non-refundable tax credit. More on this topic as the information becomes available.
PBS Evening News (1/19/23) has an excellent segment on induction ranges (available on YouTube): https://youtu.be/LgnIR18Te5Y.
